We are embarking on our forty-sixth academic year as a department, and are looking forward to visiting lecturers, the annual international grad student conference, departmental colloquia, Religion Club events, and various other occasional academic activities and social gatherings.

The study of religion at Florida State University is located squarely in the tradition of humanities scholarship. Our faculty represent a wide range of research orientations and our programs operate in close collaboration with several other departments and programs at the University. Zachary Johnson won a Best Paper Award
Winner of the Leo Sandin Best Paper Award was Zachary Johnson with the paper entitled, “Heathen Chinese: Protestant American Narratives of Chinese Religiosity in the 19th Century.” on the Graduate Student Symposium.
