FSU's College of Arts and Sciences has profiled Religion graduate student Joshua Matson and his research on the Dead Sea Scrolls. 

The Florida State University Department of Religion is pleased to announce its 18th Graduate Student Symposium to be held February 14-15, 2020, in Tallahassee, Florida. 

The $44,000 Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowship (DDRA) will fund Rebecca's research in Mumbai, India from January 2020 to December 2020. While there, Rebecca will be conducting an ethnographic study on women directors in Bollywood, where she will investigate the relationship between gender identity and film production by exploring how Bollywood women directors define and negotiate gender roles. Former Department of Religion graduate student Thomas Whitley (PhD 2016) has been named a 2019 "Notable Nole" by the College of Arts and Sciences for his work as chief of staff for Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey. 

The Episcopal Church Foundation has named ARH graduate student Tucker Adkins one of its two academic fellows for 2019. The fellowship recognizes promising doctoral research being conducted by students who are from a member church within the Anglican Communion. It will award Tucker $15,000 for the year and give him the opportunity to visit various archival sites.

The Department of Religion is pleased to announce that two of its graduate students have been awarded Fulbright Fellowships this year, Jesse Miller and Amanda Propst. Jesse will spend the next academic year in Burkina Faso to do research on funerary practices in that country and Amanda will be in Oman doing research on Ibadism, a form of Islam. The Florida State University Department of Religion is pleased to announce its 17th Graduate Student Symposium to be held February 22-23, 2019 in Tallahassee, Florida. 

The department congratulates Luke Arredondo, Ryan Donovan, Thomas Greene, Meredith Ross, Sheldon Steen, and Daniel Wells on their nominations for Florida State University's 2017-2018 Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award. 

American Religious History doctoral candidate Daniel Roeber is a Three-Minute Thesis Doctoral Competition finalist. The annual event challenges graduate students to describe their research projects in just 3 minutes. 

The Three-Minute Thesis Doctoral Competition Finals will be held on Wednesday, November 29, at 6:00 PM in the Durell Peaden Auditorium, College of Medicine. The audience will be able to vote for the People’s Choice Award at the close of the finalists’ presentations

The Religion Department congratulates Carson Bay and David Skelton, two Ph.D candidates, for receiving the Fulbright Fellowship to Germany and Rebecca Peters and Ian Reed for the AIIS fellowships to study in India next academic year. The Department also congratulates our undergrad religion major, Micah Friedman, for receiving the 2016 Humanity in Action Fellowship summer program to study in Berlin, Germany. >>Read more on "Florida State 24/7"
